What should you do next?
Please make sure you are registered with a GP based in Northumberland before you refer to us.
*UPDATED Phone self referral process*
To make a TMN phone referral you must now leave a voicemail with your name, date of birth and a contact phone number. We will aim to call you back as soon as possible between 9am and 5pm from a private number – this may take a few days. We will make 2 attempts to speak to you between 9am and 5pm but if we are unable to contact you, your referral will be closed and you will need to call back
If you have any concerns about being able to make a referral online or through this call system you can speak to your GP about them referring on your behalf.

To access our service you can refer yourself online here or contact your GP and ask for a referral to ‘Talking Matters Northumberland’.
This will result in an automated email response and a subsequent text message inviting your to your first appointment which will be over the telephone.
This telephone appointment will take approximately 30 minutes and will enable us to decide on the best way to help you with your difficulties.
Alternatively, you can:
- Call our referral line on 0300 3030 700 and leave a message with a clear contact number so we can call you back to discuss the referral before we take your details over the phone.
